UGLY SOUL

Society makes our soul ugly. That is the sentence this piece came from.

UGLY SOUL is finished in iridescent chrome, which means it has no fixed colour. Walk around it and the surface turns green, then violet, then something closer to oil on water. Photograph it twice from two places and you will not agree with yourself about what colour it is.

That is the point. A soul that shifts depending on who is looking at it, and on where they are standing when they look.

The form underneath is heavy and awkward on purpose. It does not resolve into anything comfortable. Cast resin rather than plated steel, because resin holds the iridescence in a way metal does not, and because the piece needed to look poured rather than built.

Two pieces exist. There will not be a third.
